JordanCon 2015

Art Show Programming at JordanCon 7

Since we have a much larger venue this year, for the first time we are able to offer Art and Dealer Hall related programming in it's very own, dedicated space within Salon A. Salon A is where you'll find the Art Show- along with our fantastic Artist Guest of Honor Todd Lockwood - the Dealer Hall, and, now, Art Show programming.

Now that the schedule is available online, we thought it would be a great time to give you a bit more "insider" info on the programming we have in store. Read on!

GoH Book Club- Chapter 4!

Now, we're getting to some meat!

.
This chapter is in Raseed's head and we get to see Adoulla from his eyes. I think it's a great thing to see Raseed acknowledge that, even though Adoulla isn't perfect (he burps and curses!), he's still a devout follower of God and blessed by him, as well. You can be a man of God without being as devout as a dervish! This is a fantastic statement, I think!

GoH Book Club- Chapter 3!

Good evening and welcome to Chapter 3! Unlike the backstory of Chapter 2, this one is PACKED with goodies! Let's dive in, shall we?

We start this chapter with Adoulla feeling old again and Raseed reinforcing that he's doing God's work, protecting people from evil things. We find out that he and Miri didn't work out because she wouldn't marry a ghul-hunter and he wouldn't give it up. Then, we learn some more about Raseed's dedication to his faith, such that he doesn't even notice a pretty girl smiling at him and immediately turns the conversation back to the job at hand. Poor Adoulla knows how lonely this "path" is and wishes he'd just act like a normal younger man while he was young enough to take advantage of it.

GoH Book Club- Chapter 2!

Welcome to Chapter 2! We're delving deeper into Adoulla's past with this chapter!

So, this one picks up where the other left off, with Raseed walking a boy towards a cardamon-hazed Adoulla. We find out that this is Adoulla's former love interest's nephew and his parents have been murdered by what sounds like a ghul! He quizzes the poor boy a few times, making him repeat the story to "isolate useful information." I think it's rather sad that the guardsmen care so little for the people outside the walls that they don't take a blood-crusted little kid seriously, but that's just me being... well, me.

Chapter I (that's not a one...)

Let me preface this by saying that these are my thoughts as I read through this book for the first time. I'm sure I'll be back to "OHHHH!!!" as we read more!

Now, on to the discussion:

First, let me say this prologue really creeped me out. It did exactly what it was supposed to do, in that it dropped me in the middle of the frying pan and made me feel sorry for the slab of meat that was cooking there. It loaded me with tons of questions and part of me isn't sure I want the answers!
